Rat Terriers come in a variety of colors and patterns. The ole timey Black/tan Tri and Black/Tan Piebald have gotten an updated look so that they come in Red, Chocolate, Lemon, Blue, Pearl, Apricot and more colors. So if Black/tan Tri or Black/Tan Piebald isn't the color dog that your looking for then hold on to your seat because a rat terrier is sure to come in a color and pattern that you like.




Pattern: Description:
Solid Solid body color with no tan points or markings
Bi-color Base color with white markings but no tan points
Piebald White Base coat with colored spots. Piebald is used in place of "WHITE"
Tri-color SOLID Base color with minimum white markings and tan points
Calico head Head is a solid color of fawn/tan/red/brown
Tuxedo Body is solid color with a white chest, white feet, white stomach, partial to full collar
Merle Base color with lighter areas of same color
Sable Base coat with black tips - Can not be in Brown, Blue or Fawn

For the sake of space TAN in the point section can be substituted for:  RED or CREME

Blues have self colored Grey/blue noses, eye rims and nails.

Solid body smokey grey/blue with white on chest, feet, stomach and collar area with NO points

can be a multitude of shades.
It can be a SOLID BODY crimson red to a light tinted red color with NO white.
They can have tan and/or creme markings.

Reds can have black or brown noses, eye rims and nails.

can be a multitude of shades.
It can be a crimson red to a light tinted red color with minimum white markings on legs, chest and/or stomach region and NO points.


Red Bi can have black or brown noses, eye rims and nails.

 

 

RED PIEBALD


can be a multitude of shades from crimson red to a light tinted red. 

has a white base coat with Red spots/patches and NO points.

Red Piebald can have black or brown noses, eye rims and nails

 

 

RED TRI
 

Red bodied with minimum white markings on legs, chest and/or stomach region and Tan/Creme points.

Red Tri can have black or brown noses, eye rims and nails

 

 

RED TUXEDO


can be a multitude of shades. It can be a crimson red to a light cream color with white on chest, feet, stomach and collar area with no tan points.
They have no tan markings.


Red Tuxedo can have black or brown noses, eye rims and nails

 

RED MERLE
can be a multitude of shades. It can be a crimson red to a light cream color with lighter red/cream spots.
They have no tan markings.
Reds nose pads and nails SHOULD be black but can be liver.
RED HEADED CALICO
A very distinctive look where the head of the dog is a different color than the body. The head is a red/tan/fawn color where the body would be black or blue spotted with a white base coat.

 

APRICOT


Solid body tinted orange with no tan points and no white markings on body.


Nose pads and nails MUST be black.

 

APRICOT BI


Solid body tinted orange with minimum white markings on legs, chest and/or stomach region and NO points.
Nose pads and nails MUST be black.

 

 

APRICOT PIEBALD


Apricot Piebald has a White base coat with Apricot spots and No Points.


Nose pads and nails MUST be black.

 

 

APRICOT TUXEDO


is an orange color with white on chest, feet, stomach and collar area with NO points
Nose pads and nails MUST be black.

 

 

APRICOT MERLE


is a orange color with lighter cream/lemon colored spots
with or without white patches intermingled

Nose pads and nails MUST be black.

 

LEMON


A lemon color with no white on body.
These pups are usually born white and start showing their lemon between the 2nd and 4th week.


Nose pads, eye rims and nails MUST be Brown.

LEMON BI


A lemon color with minimum white patches.
These pups are usually born white and start showing their lemon between the 2nd and 4th week.


Nose pads, eye rims and nails MUST be Brown.

 

LEMON PIEBALD


Lemon has a White base coat with  lemon spots and No Points.
These pups are usually born white and start showing their lemon between the 2nd and 4th week.

LEMON TUXEDO


A lemon color with white on chest.
These pups are usually born white and start showing their lemon between the 2nd and 4th week.
