HARMING OTHERS
- The horrible REALITY of Internet Boards
- The Story of Bobby Jo Stinnett and Lisa
Montgomery
- What occurred in association with a Rat Terrier Internet
Board
|
Lisa Montgomery, 36, of Melvern, Kansas,
confessed to strangling
eight-months-pregnant Bobbie Jo Stinnett,
23,
before cutting the premature infant from
her womb at Bobbie Jo's Skidmore Missouri
home on December 16, 2004.
|
Bobbie Jo, won prizes
across the country on the
rat terrier dog show
circuit, and shared her
knowledge on the genetics
of breeding with other
breeders in online chat
rooms.
-
Montgomery, a rat
terrier breeder,
belonged to the
same
online communities.
Bobbie Jo defended
Lisa when she was
accused of
misrepresenting her
dogs pedigree. (*The
link was to
a board that Jason
Dawson once had on
the internet.
Dawson was
-
also
an acquaintance of
Lisa Montgomery and
was at that time a
Rat Terrier breeder
himself.)
|
On
Wednesday,
December
16, 2004,
Lisa,
posing as
"Darlene
Fisher"
contacted
Bobbie Jo
in an
Internet
chat room
under the
pretext of
wanting to
buy a rat
terrier.
Bobbie Jo
gave her
directions
to her
house and
they agreed
to meet the
next day.
When Kevin
returned
home from
work on
Thursday,
around 5:15
p.m., he
received a
telephone
call from
his wife in
Topeka,
Kansas
telling him
that while
she was out
of town
shopping
she
delivered a
daughter at
a Topeka
women's
clinic.
Kevin with
two
teenagers
from home
drove to
Topeka to
pick up
Lisa and
the baby at
Long John
Silver's
restaurant
parking
lot. The
couple
drove home
with the
newborn in
Kevin's
pickup
truck,
while the
teens drove
her red
Toyota
Corolla.
Meanwhile,
Becky
Harper,
Bobbie Jo's
mother,
discovered
her at home
lying dead
in a pool
of blood
with the
baby
removed and
her fists
holding
blond hair.
On Friday
morning,
while the
Montgomery
couple ate
breakfast
at a
restaurant,
a customer
showed baby
"Abigail"off
to others
in the cafe
who were
surprised
the infant
was only a
day old.
After
breakfast,
they took
the infant
to visit
Reverend
Mike
Wheatly, of
the First
Church of
God. Kevin
was proud
but his
wife looked
exhausted.
The
reverend
and his
wife were
shocked
because,
"Everyone
was
doubtful
that she
was
pregnant in
the first
place."
They each
took turns
holding
Abigail for
an hour
even though
they
thought it
was odd
that they
took a
newborn
baby out
visiting so
soon.
Amber Alert
system was
attributed
to the
success in
recovering
the infant
so quickly.
On the
rat terrier
Web site,
a North
Carolina
woman who
saw Bobbie
Jo and
"Darlene"
arrange the
meeting
contacted
the FBI
after
hearing an
Amber
Alert.
Through
Internet
service
provider
records,
computer
investigators
tracked
Darlene's
account to
Melvern,
Kansas,
registered
to Lisa
Montgomery.
Authorities
verified no
babies were
born in a
Topeka
women's
clinic on
Thursday.
Law
enforcement
surveillance
revealed
Lisa with
an infant
on Friday.
They
noticed a
vehicle
matching
the one
seen
outside the
Stinnett
home.
Premature
but
healthy,
baby
Victoria Jo
Stinnett,
was
recovered
in Melvern
Kansas the
day after
her birth.
Zeb was
reunited
with his
daughter
Friday
evening at
Stormont-Vail
Regional
Medical
Center in
Topeka
where she
spent the
weekend
before
going home
with her
father. |

Internet
Boards
are NOT
safe as
proven
over
and
over
and
over
again.
Even
those
you
THINK
you
know -
May
turn
out to
be
somebody
else!
Internet
Boards
tend to
cater
to
those
who
like to
slander
and
attack
others.
Attacks
come in
many
forms -
from
Verbal
to
Physical.
- Those who lash out at those they don't even know have issues
- way beyond those they are maliciously intending to harm.
- Many of those on the Rat Terrier Boards today were on the very board that both
- Bobbie Jo and Lisa were on back then. Lisa was a show breeder
- so please do not make the mistake of thinking show breeders are any more
- ethical or trustworthy than another who does not wish to be involved in dog shows.
-
Often times Show Breeders hide behind a persona that they are better than
- others and are often times the very ones that get charged with Neglect and Abuse.

breeders that test. And explained
that I trust breeders that list the
positive and negative as they are
not trying to hide anything.
Then I told her she missed a very
important dog I own, explaining a
bit about Mini as an example of
what is more likely to happen to
dogs when the breeders do not test.
I also explained that good test
results automatically post on the
OFFA site ..... negative ones
require the owner's signature to
post them. Since she is so adamant
against breeding any dogs that have
even one PLL gene, she must have
tested her dogs. Since they are not
on the OFFA site, I can only assume
they are all at least carriers and
she will be getting all new stock
for breeding purposes.
Hey, I said I was nice and

her list. It means that you are
testing and disclosing the genetic
status of your dogs. Good job!!!!
It also shows her ignorance, but
then you already know that.
Excluding the carriers from a
program will only serve to restrict
valuable attributes that these dogs
have to offer in other areas. There
is more than PLL involved in
breeding. Whenever I see a breeder
being very exclusive in restricting
a certain testable genetic issue
from their program, I see dogs that
begin to look different and not as
nicely constructed as those from
programs that look at the whole
dog. Perfection is a goal, but it
does not truly exist.
-
Unrealistic point of view
-
FACT being ANY dog, of
a highly
-
populated breed such as the
Rat Terrier, with a
-
confirmed disorder that a lab
deemed was worth finding a
-
genetic test for should NEVER
be used in a breeding program

once it is confirmed to have
the genetic disorder.

Would that be
like breeders who ask others to be patient with them
while they come up with the funds to get all of their
dogs tested but yet have the financial resources to
keep adding dogs to their breeding program. Or
would that be like being so involved in gossip on one
breed they raise but yet have another breed that they
are showing no testing for that is known for 5 major
hereditary defects. Or would that be like saying
"I don't breed for blue's" and then dilutes seem to pop
up on their website as their new and improved breeding
stock. Or would that be like professing Merle has
genetic issues thus should not be bred but yet one
breed they raise has a high percentage of being deaf.
Your right there are many who don't take the time to

What is
Libel?
The term libel, on the other hand, refers
to the false accusations, most often in
form of some fixed medium, which damages
the reputation of the concerned person or
entity. This form of defamation most often
covers written material or published
pictures which tend to defame the
individual or entity. ... Libel is relatively easier to
prove in the court of law, as the victim
has enough evidence to prove that he has
suffered damage to his reputation, which
has to be compensated, most often, in terms
of financial loss.
Well at least we are well aware that they
have been informed and should be able to
see how all of their
malicious statements
about other breeders, their dogs and
registries is open to a libel suit now
anyway.
