~~~Running Ridge Rat Terriers~~~ "ALL ABOUT
US"
We are located in the rolling scenic hills of Arkansas. We have
lived at our current location since 1984. We have been breeding the GREAT
breed of Rat Terrier since 1985. We became obsessed with this breed
within days of getting our first one and have grown more in love with it
as each year passes. We can not imagine ourselves ever being without a
passel of them.
Our first Rat Terriers came by the way of a Dam,
Sire and 6 pups. The family that bred the dam and sire were not prepared
to handle the enormous responsibility that comes with 6 walking,
breathing, mischievous and pooping puppies. We were called and asked if we
would take them. Of course, as you already know, we did and our life began
in a whole new direction that centers around Rat Terriers.
Our
dogs numbers fluctuate according to the number of puppies that we have
for sale, how many we have here for rehabilitation and eventual adoption and
a number of other factors that are too many to name.
Our goal is
to raise the BEST Rat Terrier possible that conforms to the BREED STANDARD
as set by RTCI the breed club for ACR. We strive for healthy, happy,
good-looking puppies with great attitudes. To achieve the goal of assuring
ourselves that we are breeding with conformation in mind we started our
show debuts in 2002. Since then we have been fortunate to show 16 dogs to
their championship and 11 of those were our own homebred dogs. I can assure
you that nothing is more rewarding then seeing a dog receive a blue ribbon
of which you have spent years of developing the bloodline, conformation
and health on. Our ultimate goal is to raise QUALITY Rat Terriers
that we are PROUD to call our own.
We do not give
tours through our kennel due to the possibility of contamination that
would take a toll on our dogs/puppies. We, however gladly show the parents
of any puppies that a buyer might be interested in. We hope everyone
realizes that this helps control the possibility of our puppies being
healthy when they leave us.
We feel that we are responsible for
each and every puppy that we produce, therefore we will ALWAYS take any of
our puppies back, at any time of it's life, for any
reason.
